Football Hat Beanie in 6 Sizes: Free Crochet Pattern

With football season in full swing, I thought that this would be the perfect time to release this Crochet Football Hat Pattern!  Not only is this a free pattern, it also includes 6 sizes ranging from newborn all the way to adult!  Now you can make these fun football beanies for the entire family!

This easy pattern includes newborn, 0-6 months, 6-12 months, 12-24 months, child (3-10 years) and adult sizes.  So from the smallest football fan to the biggest, you can make sure each member of the family has a football beanie for Superbowl Sunday!

I used a soft, worsted weight yarn called I Love This Yarn for this free crochet hat pattern.  I use this yarn for a lot of my free patterns and it is super soft and holds up very well!  It is definitely a favorite of mine and one that I always reach for first.

This adorable football hat pattern is made from a simple hat pattern and then you just use a yarn needle to add a few white stripes (the football lacing) making this an easy project that all skill levels of crocheters can make!

Things you will need:

• I Love This Yarn in Brown & White
• H / 5.00 mm Crochet Hook
• Yarn Needle / Tapestry Needle
• Scissors
• Stitch Markers (optional)

Abbreviation:

• ch = chain
• mc = magic circle / magic ring
• sc = single crochet
• hdc = half double crochet
• dc = double crochet
• blsc = back loop single crochet
• t = turn
• Sl st = slip stitch

Gauge:

• 12 st x 7 r = 4” in double crochet
• Make sure to use the correct hook to obtain the correct gauge to ensure a proper fit.

Sizing chart:

• Newborn –fits a 11-12’’ circumference
• 0-6 Months – fits a 13’’-14’’ circumference
• 6-12 Months – fits a 16-17’’ circumference
• 12-24 Months – fits a 18-19’’ circumference
• Child (3-10yrs) – fits a 20’’ circumference
• Adult – fits a 21’’-23’’ circumference

Finished Measurements:

• Newborn – 11’’ circumference, 4.75’’ tall
• 0-6 Months – 12’’ circumference, 5’’ tall
• 6-12 Months – 14’’ circumference, 5.5’’ tall

All Sizes:

Embellish the laces on the front of the hat.

Take a piece of white yarn, at least 30’’ or longer to make the laces with.

I like to pass through each section for the laces twice to make them a bit thicker.

I make the long stripe first and then go back down making the little ones across.
