Do you love the look of granny squares but don’t like sewing them together? Then this Granny Stripe Stocking is the perfect stocking pattern for you! It is a one piece crochet Christmas stocking as it is made with the granny stripe stitch so there are no pieces to have to join except for seaming a small portion on the heel.
If you are looking for some fun crochet projects for the holiday season, Christmas stockings are a great option! Even if you are more on the beginner side of crocheting, if you can do simple stitches like single crochets and double crochets then you can make this one piece crochet stocking pattern.
You can make this stocking pattern in either a solid color or stripe multiple colors. I prefer the look of using a different color for each stripe but I also made a solid color one to see what it would look like and it turned out pretty too.
About the Granny Stripe Stocking Pattern
This free pattern is really a fairly quick and easy stocking pattern. It uses mostly basic crochet stitches like single crochet stitches and double crochet stitches for the majority of the pattern.
It is worked from the toe up and worked in the round without turning, except for the heel section that is worked in flat rows that you turn after every row.
If you have never made a stocking before, I think this would be a great pattern to start with. Don’t let the heel section of the pattern intimidate you, it’s a lot easier than it may look!
The front and the back of the stocking are both identical so you can face the stockings either way when hanging them on the mantle.
