This cute and trendy Granny Bandana is such a quick project that is perfect for Summer! It works up super fast and only uses a small amount of yarn which makes it perfect for using up some leftover yarn that you may have.
I chose to use a 100% cotton yarn for this easy project and it worked up beautifully. I think that this headband pattern would look really cute when made with a multicolor or even striped cotton yarn too! I used one of my favorite cotton yarns called ‘I Love This Cotton’ from Hobby Lobby
This is honestly such a quick and easy pattern that you can have worked up in no time. I love how the little scalloped edges really finish off and make this pattern.
This is a fairly easy crochet pattern that uses basic crochet stitches like chain, single crochet stitches, half double and double crochet stitches.

Can beginners make this pattern?
Yes! If you’re comfortable with chain, double crochet, half double crochet and single crochet stitches, you’ll find this project easy to follow.
What yarn works best?
Cotton or a cotton blend yarn is ideal because it provides the best stitch definition and helps the headband hold its shape.
Can I make it larger?
Absolutely. Continue repeating the increase row until the bandana reaches your preferred size before adding the border and ties. And this goes the same for making the headband smaller, just leave a few row repeats out to adjust accordingly.

Easy Granny Bandana Crochet Pattern

Things you will need:
- I Love This Cotton in warm blush & stonewash blue
- H / 5.0mm Crochet Hook
- Yarn Needle / Tapestry Needle
- Scissors
- Tape Measure (optional)
- Stitch Markers (optional)
Finished Measurements – Bandana is approx. 16.5’’ across top (without the ties) and 9.75’’ long
Notes:
- When making the ties for the bandana, I chained 50 but you can chain however many you would like to make the ties as short or long as you want
- Notes will be included throughout the pattern when needed
Stitch Key
- ch = chain
- st = stitch (es)
- sk = skip
- sl st = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- dc = double crochet
- sp = space
- yo = yarn over
- t = turn

Pattern
Row 1: ch 4, sl st in 1st ch st to form a ring, ch 4 (counts as a dc + ch 1 here and throughout), (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc, ch 1, dc) in ch 4 ring
Row 2: ch 4, t, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, ( 3dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in ch-3 sp, ch 1, 3 dc in ch 1 sp, ch 1, dc in last st ( 3rd ch up of the ch 4 from previous row)
Row 3: ch 4, t, * 3 dc in ch 1 sp, ch 1* repeat * to * until you reach ch 3 sp, ( 3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in ch 3 sp, ch 1, * 3 dc in ch 1 sp, ch 1* repeat * to * until last st, dc in last st
Row 4 – 11 : repeat row 3
Do NOT cut yarn
Ties and Border:
Ch 50, t, sc in 2nd ch st from hook and in each ch st across
Once you reach back to the bandana, evenly sc across top side of triangle
After you sc all the way across the top side, ch 50 st, t, sc in 2nd ch st from hook and in each ch st across
sl st into the 1st ch 1 sp on the side of the bandana that you haven’t sc on, 5 hdc in the 2nd dc of the 3 dc cluster
*sl st into ch 1 sp, 5 hdc in next 2nd dc on the 3 dc cluster* repeat * to until you reach the ch 3 sp, sl st into the 1st ch st, 5 hdc in 2nd ch st, sl st into 3rd ch st, *5 hdc in 2nd dc of 3 dc cluster, sl st into ch 1 sp* repeat acoss.
Cut yarn and weave in all ends.
