Potholders, or hot pads as some people call them, are a great project to crochet anytime of the year. From simple stitches to more complex designs, crochet potholders are the perfect project to make if you have some cotton yarn laying around.
I have gathered 30 fun crochet potholder patterns and put in this round up. There are all kinds of styles from simple to Holiday themed ones in this post.
Why are potholders a great project for any crocheter?
- They are fast and easy to make
- Require a small amount of worsted weight cotton yarn
- A small project that you can easily take on the go with you
- Can use simple stitches so that even a beginner crocheter can easily make them
- They even make great gifts
What Yarn is Best for Crochet Potholders?
A worsted weight yarn that is 100% cotton is the best yarn to use for making crochet potholders! Acrylic yarn is NOT a good option for making potholders as it could possibly melt from the heat of hot items placed on them.
Here are a few cotton yarns that I really like myself!
- Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton
- I Love This Cotton from Hobby Lobby
- Dishie from We Crochet
