Looking for an easy and free crochet baby blanket pattern? This baby blanket uses one of my favorite yarns and works up super fast just by using basic stitches! I even included a full video tutorial for this easy pattern!
One thing that I love about this pattern is that there are no color changes, the yarn does it all by itself so that means less ends to weave in at the end.
Crochet baby blankets have to be one of my favorite things to crochet. Especially when using a yarn as pretty as this one.
A handmade baby blanket also makes for such such a great baby shower gift!
This is a very beginner-friendly pattern that I think most beginners will be able to crochet and even more advanced crocheters will enjoy it too. The simple stitches and row repeats make it the perfect beginner crochet baby blanket pattern.
Stitch Details
I used a fun stitch called the C2C Wattle Stitch for this blanket and paired it with a simple shell border. I absolutely love how it turned out.
The wattle stitch consist of basic crochet stitches like single crochet stitches, chain stitches and double crochet stitches, so it is a very easy stitch to crochet.
You can find a full, in depth tutorial for the C2C Wattle Stitch in THIS POST if you have never crocheted it before and want a step by step, detailed visual. Scroll on down for the pattern for this blanket!
Yarn Details
I used one of my all time favorite yarns for this baby blanket pattern. It is Lion Brand Mandala Ombre yarn in the color Chi. This is a worsted weight #4 acrylic yarn that works up just beautifully. I also used a hook size J / 6mm and it worked perfect for this free pattern.
I used a total of 3 skeins of yarn for this blanket which is approx. 1,032 yards.
My finished blanket is approx. 32” x 32” but you could easily adjust the size of the blanket and make a larger blanket if you prefer by continuing to increase on the pattern, just keep in mind that you will need a larger amount of yarn if you make a bigger blanket.
You could even swap out this yarn for a thinner yarn or even a chunky yarn for this crochet blanket pattern and I think that the results would still make for a beautiful blanket. Just remember to change your size of crochet hook accordingly.
