First, I must say that Daisy makes such a pretty doggy model! I mean look at that pose (or the look of, ‘I want that treat that someone is holding.’) Either way she’s beautiful!

This is a super simple and easy crochet project. I made this one for Daisy with less than 1 skein of yarn. I used Lion Brand Ice Cream Cotton Blend yarn which has been discontinued. I was not aware that it had been discontinued when I started this project! But, any #4 / Worsted weight yarn would work for this dog bandana.

It’s just a triangle with a strip of single crochet attached on each corner, super simple in construction! The best part is that the triangle is just a 1 row repeat after the 1st 2 rows. And, It’s done in one of my favorite stitches, the Moss Stitch.

I didn’t create different sizes for this pattern, I basically made the triangle until the width was just a little bit smaller than Daisy’s neck, then I made and attached the ties. Super simple!

She can wear the triangle part to the front or the back, both ways look so cute!

Of course, I had the treats out, so George had to come and photo bomb our photo shoot. And, imagine him not posing, LOL.

Things you will need:

  • Any worsted weight yarn (I used less than 150 yards for this one)
  • 5.00mm / H Crochet Hook
  • Scissors
  • Yarn Needle

Stitch Key –

  • Sc = single crochet
  • T = turn
  • Sk = skip
  • Sl st = slip stitch
  • Ch = chain
  • St = stitch (es)

Notes:

  • Measure your dogs neck, right where you would tie the bandana.
  • Crochet the triangle until it’s about 1-2” smaller than your dogs neck. (Daisy’s neck was 18” around and I made hers until the triangle was 17” across)

Pattern –

How to make the Triangle Bandana –

Row 1: ch 2, in 1st ch (sc, ch 1, sc, ch 2, sc, ch 1, sc) You Should have 4 st (I only count the single crochets as stitches)

Row 2: ch 1, t, sc in 1st sc, ch 1, sc in ch-1 sp, ch 1, (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch-2 sp, ch 1, sc in ch-1 sp, ch 1, sc in last st (6)

Row 3: ch 1, t, sc in 1st sc, ch 1, * sc in ch-1 sp, ch 1* repeat * to * until you reach ch-2 sp, (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch-2 sp, ch 1, *sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1* repeat * to * until you reach the last st, sc in last st (8)

Continue repeating row 3 until the long end of the triangle measures approx. 1-2” less than your dogs neck. Daisy’s neck is 18” around and I crocheted until it was 17” wide.

Cut yarn and weave in ends.

How to make the ties –

You can make the ties as long or as short as you want them to be. I made these to be about 12” long each.

Make 2

Row 1: Ch 44 (or whatever number you’d like), sc in the 2nd chain form hook and in each ch st across

Row 2: Ch 1, t, sc in each st across

Attach one tie to each corner on the long side of the triangle.

Cut yarn and weave in ends.
