If you are looking for the perfect lapghan pattern, then I think you may have just found it! This is the perfect sized lap blanket that uses simple stitches and is made with a 1 row repeat after the first row.
This is a great project if you are just wanting a simple blanket that works up fairly quickly and is super easy to crochet!
I chose to use one of my favorite yarns, Lion Brand Mandala Ombre for this free pattern and it worked up beautifully. The finished size of this blanket is approx. 36” x 41” and I used a total of 5 skeins of yarn for it. I used the color Mantra and love the mix of blue and green tones in this yarn.
Lion Brand has so many different colors of the Mandala Ombre so there are so many choices when it comes to making this handmade blanket. This specific type of yarn is a #4 worsted weight yarn and works up very smooth and easy.
The stitch pattern that I chose to use for this blanket is called the ‘Grit Stitch‘. This is a super easy stitch that uses basic crochet stitches like chains, single crochet and double crochet stitches.
Is This Blanket Pattern Easy to Crochet?
Yes, this is a very easy crochet lap blanket pattern. The entire blanket is made from a 1 row repeat row after the first row so it makes for a super easy crochet project. Because this is such a simple pattern, crocheters of all skill levels could make this blanket from new crocheters to even more advanced crocheters.
This blanket is the perfect size for a small throw or lap blanket. The best part about this pattern is that it is so easy to make different sizes of this blanket. You could even use a different type of yarn and do simple stripes for this blanket and that would be pretty.
This easy project would also make for the perfect gift for someone or even a baby shower gift.

You can adjust the size of this blanket by making the starting chain any odd number.
Chain 119 stitches
Row 1: dc in the 3rd chain stitch from hook (2 skipped chain st counts as a sc), *skip next ch, work 1 sc and 1 dc in the next st*, repeat * to * across to last 2 ch. Skip the next ch, sc in the last chain
Row 2: ch 1 (counts as a sc), t, 1 dc in 1st st, *skip next st, work 1 sc and 1 dc in the next st*, repeat * to * across to last 2 st, skip next st, sc in the last stitch (which will be your turning chain from the previous row)
Continue repeating row 2 until you run out of yarn.
I did a total of 120 rows for my blanket.
Cut yarn and weave in all ends.

This pattern came up in my email as the Freebie Friday pattern today (09/27/2024), but when I clicked on the link for the pdf a jpg came up of the blanket and not the pattern. Could you please help with this? Thanks.
