Does anyone need a quick and easy Valentine’s Day project??? Each Amigurumi heart can be whipped up in a heartbeat and are so cute! I even think that you could make garland with this crochet stuffed heart pattern!

Don’t worry, even if you have never crocheted amigurumi before, I think that this would be a great first amigurumi project!

And, don’t just think that this easy crochet heart pattern is just for Valentine’s Day.  It’s good for any day of the year!  Even to crochet one to add to a gift or present can be really thoughtful.

I came back and updated parts of this pattern (2023). It has been for the past few years, one of my most popular posts on my blog!  Out of all the patterns and tutorials that I have done, this little heart pattern has remained one of the top viewed posts on my site.

I have seen countless people make finished items with this pattern and share the little hearts with me and others for the past couple of years and it always puts a smile on my face to see pieces made from my patterns!

I’d love to see these turned into keychains. Everyone seems to love these hearts and I’m sure you could even sell them at markets.

You could even go up or down on the hook size and make different sizes.  Each of my hearts measure about 3.5’’ across and tall.

What Yarn Should You Use for this Crochet Stuffed Heart Pattern?

Depending on whether you are wanting a smaller or larger puffy heart, both worsted weight yarn and bulky weight yarn work great for this free pattern!   I originally wrote this pattern for using worsted weight yarn but have since then used different yarn weights and they always turn out perfect.

You will just need to adjust your hook size depending on the weight of yarn that you choose to use.

When made with worsted weight yarn, each little heart measure about 3.5’’ across and tall.  They are the perfect size to fit right into your hand.  This size of heart would also make for the perfect key chain

I have even made some with this pattern using a 6.00 mm hook and some Premier Parfait Chunky yarn to make a chunky large heart.  The ones made with Parfait chunky measure approx. 5.5” wide.

If you really wanted a larger heart, then you try making one out of blanket yarn, which I have not attempted that one (at least yet!). It would make for such a cute giant heart!

Experiment with making different sizes of heart by using different types and weights of yarn!  Just remember that for thinner yarn, you will want to use a smaller crochet hook to keep the stuffing from showing through.  And, for a large crochet heart made with a thicker yarn, you will have to go up in hook size.

Is Crocheting an Amigurumi Heart Hard?

This is a very simple amigurumi heart pattern and I would have to say that it is really a very easy thing to crochet.   You will start by making the top 2 little rounded pieces for the top of the heart and then join them and work in continuous rounds.

So, the heart is crocheted from the top down.
