These are the absolute perfect Heart Cup Cozies! They would make great Valentine’s Day Gifts! Pair them with a gift card to someones favorite coffee shop and done. And, did I mention that the crochet pattern for these Valentine’s Cup Cozies is FREE?!

There are so many different variations that you can make with different cup cozy and heart color combos. You can even do an accent color on the top and bottom edge of the cozy with the coordinating color heart, like this one

All the different variations of cup cozies that are pictured are made with I Love This Yarn. The speckled yarn above is named crushed raspberry with the heart and edges done in Hot Rose. The yarns with the ‘sparkle’ are I Love This Yarn Metallic.

Any similar #4 worsted weight yarn would work too!

Abbreviation:

Notes:

  • You can easily adjust the cup cozy size by simply going up or down a hook size to fit different sized cups.

Go!

Cup Cozy –

Round 1: 26 fhdc, join with sl st into 1st st

Round 2 – 9: ch 1, hdc in each st around, join with sl st

Cut yarn and weave in ends.

Heart Applique-

Round 1: 6 sc in mc (6)

Round 2: * sc in 1 st, 2 sc in next st* repeat * to * 2 more times (9)

Round 3: sl st, ( 2 dc, hdc ) in the same st that you just sl st into, sc in the next 3 st, sl st into next st, sc in next 3 st, ( hdc, 2 dc ) in the very last st, sl st into the very first sl st ( 14 st, counting the sl st )

Round 4: 2 sc in next 2 st (you should start your very 1st st in the top of the 1st dc from previous round), sc in 4 st, 2 sc in next st, sc in 4 st, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sl st into the very top middle of the heart. (19)

Cut yarn. I like to take the tail of the yarn from the top of the heart and pull it right down the middle of the heart to help with the ‘heart’ shape even more.

Weave in all ends.

If you need any help with how to make the heart applique, I also made a video tutorial just for the heart!

To attach the heart, I use my hot glue gun and glue the heart onto the cup cozy. You could also use yarn and just stitch it on, that would work too.

Attach your heart and done!

  1. Can’t wait to make this! How does the hot glue do with washing the item? And it’s ok for the acrylic yarn? Love your patterns!

    1. Hi, I have never washed the cup cozies so I’m not for sure how they would hold up. I would probably hand wash them though! Thank you!!!
