This is the perfect little Heart Applique! You can attach them to so many different things like Cup cozies, baby hats, baby clothes, amigurumi, headbands and so much more.

They measure approx. 2.25” tall and 2.25” wide when made with a I / 5.50mm crochet hook.

I have even included a full video tutorial for this pattern! It will explain everything from start to finish!

How to attach Heart Appliques?

There are a couple different ways to attach the appliques.

You can just stitch them on with your yarn if you are sewing them on to another crochet piece.

Or, and this is what I do and it’s my favorite way to attach them, glue them on with a hot glue gun. And, this works great! As long as you apply a generous amount of hot glue, they will not come off. It actually holds really well.

Things you will need:

  • Any worsted weight yarn (This is a great project for scrap yarn) – I use I Love This Yarn
  • 5.50mm / I Hook
  • Yarn Needle
  • Scissors

Finished Size:

My hearts measure approx. 2.25” x 2.25” when made with a 5.50mm / I crochet hook. You could easily adjust the size by going up in your hook size to make a larger heart or by going down in size to make a smaller heart.

Abbreviation:

  • ch = chain
  • mc = magic circle / ring
  • sc = single crochet
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • t = turn
  • st = stitch (es)
  • Sl st = slip stitch

Go!

Round 1: 6 sc in mc (6)

Round 2: * sc in 1 st, 2 sc in next st* repeat * to * 2 more times (9)

Round 3: sl st, ( 2 dc, hdc ) in the same st that you just sl st into, sc in the next 3 st, sl st into next st, sc in next 3 st, ( hdc, 2 dc ) in the very last st, sl st into the very first sl st ( 14 st, counting the sl st )

Round 4: 2 sc in next 2 st (you should start your very 1st st in the top of the 1st dc from previous round), sc in 4 st, 2 sc in next st, sc in 4 st, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sl st into the very top middle of the heart. (19)

Cut yarn. I like to take the tail of the yarn from the top of the heart and pull it right down the middle of the heart to help with the ‘heart’ shape even more.

Weave in all ends.
