I chose a colorful yarn and the classic granny stitch to create this fun granny beach bag crochet pattern.  I love how it turned out and the color combination of this yarn just screams summertime!

This will be a great tote bag for going to the beach. It’s made with a cotton yarn so it will hold up well.  It’s also a fairly big bag so  you will have room for all your beach essentials including a beach towel.

This is a fairly easy crochet pattern that uses basic stitches like single crochet stitches and double crochet stitches for the majority of the pattern.  The body of the bag is made up a repeat row so this is the perfect pattern for working on while watching tv or just chilling.

Yarn I Used

I chose to use this fun multi color yarn for this crochet beach bag pattern.  This specific yarn is a cotton yarn so it will hold up well with getting wet.  I used Yarn Bee Sugarwheel Cotton yarn in the color sprinkles on top.  The yarn weight for this yarn is a number 3, lightweight yarn.

Can you use acrylic yarn for this pattern?

While you can use an acrylic yarn for this pattern, I’d highly recommend sticking with a cotton yarn or at least a cotton blend yarn for it.  Acrylic yarn will stretch more, won’t absorb water and won’t hold up as well overall compared to using a cotton yarn.
