It’s the most wonderful time of year, and you’re cozied up by the fireplace, sipping hot cocoa, and admiring your pretty Christmas tree. As you soak in the festive atmosphere and the smell of hot chocolate, you can’t help but notice the empty space above the fireplace just waiting to be filled with something special – a crochet Christmas stocking.
If you’re like me, the joy of creating something unique for the holiday season is the best! That’s why I’m thrilled to share with you my free crochet Christmas stocking pattern.
Have I mentioned that it’s the very 1st stocking pattern that I’ve ever created?! I’m beyond happy with how it turned out. Keep scrolling to view the free pattern!
I decided to do a fun shell stitch stocking and to do stripes as opposed to a solid color. I think that the stripes help the stitch pattern to really pop and makes for a great Christmas Stocking!
What Yarn Works Best for Crocheting a Christmas Stocking?
When it comes to choosing the best yarn to make your crochet Christmas stocking with, my favorite choice is always going to be a medium-weight yarn (also known as worsted weight yarn or category 4 ply yarn.)
Acrylic yarn is one of the most popular options for this type of project as it is affordable, widely available, and comes in a wide variety of colors. It also tends to be durable and easy to care for, making it ideal for Christmas stockings that may need to withstand years of wear and tear.
I see many people add faux fur yarn to the top cuff of their stocking. I think that this stocking would look cute with a faux fur cuff.
Ultimately, the choice of yarn you use will depend on your personal taste.
I choose to use Brava Worsted From We Crochet to make my stocking with. I Love This Yarn From Hobby Lobby would be another great choice of yarn for this great pattern.
