Happy December y’all!!!  I know that here in southern Oklahoma it would feel a lot more like winter/Christmas if it wasn’t 70 degrees, lol.  But, I decided to break out the snowman decor anyways.   I plan on making more Christmas patterns over the next couple of weeks and decided to start with these coasters, Aren’t they pretty???

But, I think snowman decor isn’t just for Christmas, it goes all the way through winter.

Things you will need:

Abbreviation:

  • ch = chain
  • mc = magic circle ( I have a video tutorial for this stitch here)
  • sc = single crochet
  • t = turn
  • Sl st = slip stitch

GO!

Coaster:

With the color glowing,

Rnd 1: 6 sc in a mc, sl st to 1st st (6)

Change to white

From here on, do NOT sl st to join.  Use a stitch marker to keep track of 1st st.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around (12)

Rnd 3: * sc in 1 st, 2 sc in next st* repeat * to * around (18)

Rnd 4: *sc in 2 st, 2 sc in next st* repeat * to * around (24)

Rnd 5: *sc in 3 st, 2 sc in next st* repeat * to * around (30)

Rnd 6: * sc in 4 st, 2 sc in next st* repeat * to * around (36)

Rnd 7: * sc in 5 st, 2 sc in next st* repeat * to * around (42)

Rnd 8: * sc in 6 st, 2 sc in next st* repeat * to * around (48)

Rnd 9: * sc in 7 st, 2 sc in next st* repeat * to * around (54)

Sl st into 1st st.  cut yarn and weave in ends.

Hat:

With red,

Row 1: ch 14, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (13)

Row 2-3: ch 1, t, sc in each st across (13)

Row 4: ch 1, t, sl st in 3 st, ch 1, sc in 7 st

You will now just work in the middle 7 st creating the top of the hat

Row 5-9: ch 1, t, sc in 7 st.

Cut yarn and weave in ends

Take the coaster and with a good length of black yarn, embroider the mouth between rounds 5 and 6.

Now, take more black yarn and embroider the eyes.

Lastly, take a good length of red yarn and attach the hat to the snowman.

Weave in all ends.

  1. I don’t have access to a HL – would you please tell me what color is “glowing?” Looks like it might be carrot orange or gold I don’t “do” Christmas but I have friends who are gonna LOVE these coasters!

    1. I’m so sorry! I thought I already replied to this comment, but I must not have clicked the reply button to save it…ugh! Because I remember typing the answer. Yes, glowing is the nose color, orange. Thank you!
