This easy ripple blanket is made by using simple stitches and a one row repeat but looks so much harder by just using simple color changes every 2 rows. The colors in this crochet ripple afghan remind me of the water and Summer and that is why I named it The Sea Breeze Ripple Blanket.

I love making crochet blankets, for some reason they are one of my favorite things to make and this blanket was no exception! I love the colors and the simple wavy pattern that just flows through this blanket!
I used a fun stitch called the ‘Ripple Stitch’ for this blanket. If you have never crocheted this stitch before and would like to watch an in depth video tutorial for it, then check out THIS POST!

This stitch is a pretty simple one to crochet once you get the hang of the ripple pattern. It uses basic crochet stitches like chain stitches and double crochet stitches.
If you are wanting to crochet a baby blanket with this stitch then check out THIS POST for a smaller version of a ripple stitch blanket!
Yarn I Used
I love how using just a few different colors of yarn can make this simple pattern really pop! I chose to use I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby. It is an acrylic yarn but it is super soft and holds up very well. It is also a worsted weight yarn so it’s not too heavy but makes for a super cozy blanket.

This crochet ripple blanket is approx. 58” x 60” and the total amount of yarn that I used was approx. 2,800 yards (8 skeins of I Love This Yarn).
This is a super easy project to adjust the size of. When you make you foundation chain row, just make sure to chain any multiple of 12 + 3 and it will work for this easy pattern.
By adjusting the starting chain you can easily make either a smaller size or larger size blanket. Just keep in mind that it will change how much yarn that you will need in total.

You can adjust the size of this blanket by making the starting chain any number that is a multiple of 12 + 3 (example starting chain of 87, 111, 135 st)
You will change colors after every 2 rows following this color pattern
- Linen
- Ocean
- Sea Blue
- Antique Teal
Repeat
Chain 183 stitches
Row 1: dc in 4th ch from hook (the 3 chain st that we just skipped will count as a st) dc in 3 ch st, (dc2tog) twice, * dc in 3 st, 2 dc in next 2 ch st, dc in 3 ch st, (dc2tog) twice* repeat * to * until you reach the last 4 st, dc in 3 st, 2 dc in very last st
Here’s a small example of what the 1st row should look like

Row 2: ch 3 (counts as a st), t, dc in 1st st, dc in 3 st, (dc2tog) twice, * dc in 3 st, 2 dc in next 2 st, dc in 3 st, (dc2tog) twice* repeat * to * until you reach the last 4 st, dc in 3 st, 2 dc in very last st
*NOTE – remember that the ch 3 from the previous row counts as a stitch. So, your very last 2 stitches will be worked into it.
Here’s what it will look like after row 2

Repeat row 2 until you have completed 92 rows or blanket is desired length changing colors every 2 rows.
*NOTE – I cut my yarn after every 2 rows. Yes, this makes for more ends to weave in, but to me it makes for a better blanket than trying to carry the yarn up the sides and covering them up with a border. I chose to not add a border anyway.
Cut yarn and weave in all ends.
