If you are looking for a simple washcloth pattern that has a great texture, then this is the perfect pattern for you! It is made with a fun stitch called the ‘Even Moss’ stitch and is an easy 1 row repeat!

The ‘Even Moss’ stitch is made using basic crochet stitches like chain, single crochet and half double crochet stitches. It is such an easy stitch but it produces a wonderful texture.
What type of yarn is best to use for washcloths?
I get asked this question on occasion and the absolute best yarn to use for washcloths or dishcloths is a 100% cotton yarn! Cotton absorbs water and is durable to last for a very long time. Some of my favorite cotton yarns are Dishie from We Crochet, 24/7 Cotton from Lion Brand and I Love This Cotton from Hobby Lobby.

I love choosing 2 or 3 coordinating colors of yarn and making a matching set of washcloths. You can even pair a few washcloths with some fancy soap for a cute and thoughtful gift idea.

Pattern:
Row 1: ch 29 st, starting in the second ch st from your hook, * hdc, sl st * repeat * to * across (28)
Row 2: ch 1, t, * hdc, sl st * repeat * to * across (28)
Row 3 – 33: repeat row 2
*Note – I did not add a border to these washcloths, but if you want to add one, you could evenly single crochet around the edges and place 2 sc in each corner. Then sl st into the 1st sc when you reach the beginning where you started.
Cut yarn and weave in ends.
