Did you know that I only used 2 skeins of Lion Brand Mandala Ombre yarn to make this cute baby blanket? Then I just finished it off with a simple white shell border and it just makes this yarn pop even more!

I made this blanket in a baby size (26” x 26”) but this pattern is super easy to adjust to make a larger blanket!

How to Make this Blanket Larger?

This blanket is made with a stitch called the ‘Wattle Stitch’ and it is a super easy, 1 row repeat stitch that produces beautiful results. You can crochet this stitch by making your starting chain number any multiple of 3.

So, to make this blanket larger, just take a larger number and see if it is divisible by 3. I started with 108 chain stitches for my blanket but you could also start with larger numbers like 150, 180, 195, 210, etc….

Just don’t forget that if you plan on making a larger blanket, you will need more yarn than the pattern calls for!

The yarn that I chose to use for this blanket was Lion Brand Mandala Ombre yarn in the color serene! Mandala Ombre yarn is some of my favorite yarn that Lion Brand makes and this color did not disappoint!

I also just chose a basic, worsted weight, white yarn to do the border in. I used We Crochet’s Brava Worsted. It pairs really well with the LB Mandala Ombre yarn.

I think that the shell border just finishes off this blanket perfectly! And doing it in white just makes the colors of the Mandala Ombre yarn pop even more!

Blanket:

This stitch can be started by chaining any number that is a multiple of 3.

For this baby blanket, I started with 108 chain stitches

Row 1: in the 3rd chain from your hook, work (sc, ch 1, dc) in same st, * sk 2 ch st, (sc, ch 1, dc) in next st* repeat * to * across until you reach last 3 stitches, sk 2 st, sc in very last st

Row 2: ch 1, t, *sk next sc, dc, (sc, ch 1, dc) in ch 1 sp* repeat across, sc in very last st

Continue repeating row 2 until blanket reaches desired length.

I did a total of 70 rows for my blanket.

Border:

With white yarn, attach yarn to anywhere around the edge of the blanket and evenly sc around the entire edging of the blanket placing 3 sc in each corner, sl st into 1st sc when you reach back to the beginning.

ch 1, * sc, sk 2 st, 5 dc in next st, sk 2 st* repeat * to * all the way around the blanket, sl st into the top of the 1st sc

Cut yarn and weave in all ends.
