And, here’s the 3rd Ornament to my collection that I’ve released so far this year! My Snowman Ornament.

I used a chenille stem for the little snowman’s scarf. You could easily crochet a scarf instead by chaining a row of stitches and single crocheting back up them. Or you could even make a row of Foundation Single Crochet.

Things you will need:

  • I Love this Yarn in White. Scrap yarn in black and orange
  • G / 4.00mm Crochet Hook
  • 9mm Safety Eyes
  • (3) 11mm / 7/16” Black Buttons
  • Chenille Stem for Scarf
  • Yarn Needle
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue Gun (optional)

Finished Measurements –  Snowman Ornament is approx. 6” tall without the hanger.

Abbreviation:

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • sc2tog = single crochet 2 stitches together
  • mc = magic circle / ring
  • dc = double crochet
  • t = turn
  • st = stitch (es)
  • Sl st = slip stitch

Go!

Body – with white

Row 1: ch 6, sc in 2nd st form hook and in each across (5)

Row 2: ch 1, t, 2 sc, sc in 3 st, 2 sc (7)

Row 3: ch 1, t, 2 sc, sc in 5 st, 2 sc (9)

Row 4: ch 1, t, sc in each st across (9)

Row 5: ch 1, t, 2 sc, sc in 7 st, 2 sc (11)

Row 6-7: ch 1, t, sc in each st across (11)

Row 8: ch 1, t, sc2otg, sc in 7 st, sc2otg (9)

Row 9: ch 1, t, sc in each st across (9)

Row 10: ch 1, t, sc2tog, sc in 5 st, sc2tog (7)

Row 11: ch 1, t, sc2tog, sc in 3 st, sc2tog (5)

Row 12: ch 1, t, sc in each st across (5)

Row 13: ch 1, t, 2 sc, sc in 3 st, 2 sc (7)

Row 14: ch 1, t, 2 sc, sc in 5 st, 2 sc (9)

Row 15-17: ch 1, t, sc in each st across (9)

Row 18: ch 1, t, sc2tog, sc in 5 st, sc2tog (7)

Row 19: ch 1, t, sc2tog, sc in 3 st, sc2tog (5)

Row 20: ch 1, t, sc2tog, sc, sc2tog (3)

turn piece and evenly sc around the whole edge. Cut yarn and weave in ends

Hanger –

Ch 30. Cut yarn. Make sure and leave a long tail to attach.

Nose – with orange

Ch 3, sl st in 2nd st from hook, (sc, dc) in the last st.

Cut yarn and weave in ends

Hat – with black

Row 1: ch 7, sc in 2nd ch st from hook and each st across (6)

Row 2: t, st st in 2 st, ch 2, dc in the next 2 st, ch 2, sl st in last 2 st

Using the picture as a guide, attach the hanger.

I placed my safety eyes on row 18 2 stitches apart

Hot glue on the nose, hat and buttons.

Take the Chenille stem and wrap it around his neck.
