The Royal Ridge Stitch is a super easy stitch that is made from a 1 row repeat. It produces a wonderful texture that would make great scarves, hats, blankets and even shawls.

To crochet the royal ridge stitch, you can use any weight of yarn that you would like and a corresponding crochet hook. I chose to use a worsted weight #4 yarn and a H / 5.00mm crochet hook.
I’m currently working on a triangle scarf in this stitch with a cake yarn. I’m loving how it’s working up so far!

This pattern is currently in the works and will be released at a later date!
This is an easy and mindless crochet stitch that you can work on while watching tv or riding in the car. It’s so easy and since it’s a one row repeat pattern that makes it even better!
The royal ridge stitch uses basic crochet stitches like chain stitches and half double crochet stitches. That’s it! If you can crochet those 2 stitches, then you can crochet this stitch!

If you are more of a visual learner and would like to see a video tutorial for the royal ridge stitch, you can watch the step by step video tutorial below. Keep on scrolling for the written instructions.

Royal Ridge Stitch Pattern
Start by chaining any number of stitches, for this sample I chained 23 stitches.

Row 1: in the 2nd chain stitch from your hook, work a hdc and then hdc in each chain stitch across.

Row 2: ch 1, t, hdc in the 3rd loop of each stitch across.
The 3rd loop is directly below the back loop

Here are arrows pointing to the 3rd loops. This is where you will insert your hook to work your stitches

Here is what it will look like after row 2 on the wrong side

And here is what it will look like on the right side after row 2

Continue repeating row 2 for the rest of the pattern until piece is a long as desired. After a few more rows it will begin to look like this
