Washcloths are a fun way to learn new stitches. They are also a quick project to crochet. I love using up some of my cotton yarn from my stash and crocheting it up into washcloths. Scroll on down for the full crochet washcloth pattern.

These crochet dishcloths are made using the C2C Wattle Stitch. It’s a really fun and easy stitch that only uses a few basic crochet stitches like chain stitches, single crochet stitches and double crochet stitches. So, it’s a great crochet project for a beginner!

This is a super easy crochet washcloth pattern!

What Cotton Yarn works best for crochet washcloths?

Really, any 100% cotton yarn will work great for washcloths. Worsted weight cotton yarn is best. These are a few of my favorites!

This is a great way to use up some of your yarn stash that you may have laying around and make something that would be useful for your own home or even for gifts. Handmade washcloths and a bar of handmade soap make for great gifts too!

I have a full video tutorial for the C2C Wattle Stitch just in case you are a visual learner.

How to Crochet a Washcloth

Crocheting a washcloth is easier than you might think. They are a great project that a crocheter at any skill level can crochet. Basically you just have to find a stitch that you like and make a small square with it.

For this washcloth I chose to use the C2C Wattle Stitch. Special stitches that you might like to turn into a dishcloth might be the lemon peel stitch, the bean stitch, the regular wattle stitch, the moss stitch or even the waffle stitch in a square. These are just a few options. You could even just use basic stitches like the single crochet or the half double crochet.

Once you have found a stitch that you like, you will just make it into a small square. I like to make my washcloths about 8” – 10” wide. I don’t like washcloths that are too small. I like larger washcloths but you can make one however big you’d like.
