Y’all, I’m so excited to release my newest sweater pattern, The Okie Girl Sweater!

This has been, I think, the best sweater I have made yet! So, I think it deserves to be named after my trademark

The details of this sweater are absolutely gorgeous! The yarn I chose just flows and showcases the details perfectly.

This sweater uses a special stitch called ‘The Bean Stitch.’ If you have never done this stitch before, don’t worry! I have a complete written, picture & video tutorial HERE for the Bean Stitch

One concept that I love with this sweater is, that I can totally pull it off everyday with a pair of jeggings and some ballet flats. But, I can dress it up and look really classy with a black pencil skirt and some black boots.

The Yarn I chose –

This sweater used a #3 light weight DK yarn. I chose to use Hobby Lobby’s Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek DK in Irish Rain. And, I cannot tell you how many people have complimented me on not only the sweater itself, but also the color!

This yarn works up extremely well and shows the stitches perfectly.

Cut yarn.

Seam the shoulders of your sweater 1st, seaming in the dc stitches only.

I use the slip stitch method, with the sweater turned inside out.  Find a video for help on seaming a sweater with the slip stitch method HERE

Now seam the sides of the sweater.  Start seaming just below the double crochet spaces and directly where the bean stitch begins.

Repeat for the other side of the sweater.

Turn the sweater right side out and you will now begin on the sleeves.

*note – You can easily adjust the length of your sleeves.  If you want ¾ sleeves, leave off  a few rows or if you need longer sleeves, simply add a few extra rows.  I always try my sweater on as I go, so I can be sure and get the exact fit that I’m wanting!

Cut yarn.

Repeat on the other side for the other sleeve.

Weave in all ends and enjoy your sweater!
