The Picot Trellis stitch is such a beautiful and elegant crochet stitch that produces a flowing and airy type piece. It’s perfect for summer pieces like cover ups, shawls and shirts especially when worked up with a cotton yarn.

I just finished a shawl with this pretty stitch and will be releasing the pattern very soon for it! This stitch was perfect for it and I love how it drapes when worked up with a #3 lightweight yarn.
This stitch is actually easier to crochet than it may look like. If you can chain stitch, single crochet and double crochet then you can crochet the picot trellis stitch!
It’s so hard to believe that basic crochet stitches like that can produce this beautiful piece!

It may take crocheting multiple rows before it looks like this stitch really takes place. I definitely recommend making a smaller swatch of this stitch at first so you can see exactly how it works up.
I have both the written and video tutorial for the picot trellis stitch. If you are more of a visual learner, then be sure to check out the video tutorial. If you would like the written pattern for this stitch, then keep on scrolling down for that!
