Easy Coffee Mug Cozy: Free Crochet Pattern

Does your morning cup of coffee need a cute little crocheted sweater? And yes, I just called this Mug Cozy a crocheted sweater because, well, that’s basically what it is, a cozy little sweater for your coffee mug!

This Free Mug Cozy Pattern is a crochet pattern that you can literally have made and completely finished in under an hour! Talk about a quick project!

I chose to use a easy and textured crochet stitch called the ‘Sedge Stitch‘ for this easy crochet mug cozy and I cannot love it any more especially when paired with this beautiful purple yarn!

For this cute cozy I chose to use I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby. I chose the colors mixed berry and lollipop love and they go together beautifully! And, if anyone truly knows me, I love all things purple!

And besides for the fact that this pattern is so quick to make, I think that this cozy would make an adorable handmade gift idea! Pair this mug cozy with someones favorite coffee and a new mug, talk about a cute gift idea!

Easy Coffee Mug Cozy Crochet Pattern

All crochet terms are US terms.

Things you will need:

• I Love This Yarn in Mixed Berry and Lollipop Love
• H / 5.0mm Crochet Hook
• Yarn Needle / Tapestry Needle
• Scissors
• Tape Measure (optional)
• Stitch Markers (optional)

Finished Measurements – Mug Cozy is approx. 3.25” tall and 10” (unstretched) long

Gauge – 14 st x 7 rows = 4” in double crochet

Notes:

• Easily adjust your mug cozy to fit different sizes of mugs, just start with a chain of any multiple of 3
• Other notes will be included throughout the pattern if needed.

Stitch Key 

• ch = chain
• st = stitch (es)
• sk = skip
• sl st = slip stitch
• sc = single crochet
• hdc = half double crochet
• dc = double crochet
• sp = space
• yo = yarn over
• t = turn

Row 1: (hdc, dc) in the 2nd ch st from your hook, * sk 2 ch st, (sc, hdc, dc) in next ch st* repeat * to * until you reach the last st, sc in very last stitch

Row 2: ch 1, t, (hdc, dc) in very 1st stitch, * sk 2 st, (sc, hdc, dc) in next stitch* repeat * to * until the last 2 st, sk 1 st, sc in very last st.

Row 3-8: repeat row 2

Do NOT cut yarn yet

Handle Straps:

ch 14, sl st into bottom corner of cozy.

Cut yarn.

For the other side mug handle, sl st into bottom corner of cozy, ch 14, sl st into top corner of cozy.

Cut yarn and weave in ends.
