About Clover Amour Crochet Hooks

Clover Amour Crochet Hooks are known for their comfortable easy grip handles that are both ergonomic and come in vibrant colors.  Each specific size of mm hook is a specific color so you will never have to wonder which size is which, you can easily tell by what color the handle is for easy identification.  They come in many hook sizes from 0.60mm to 15mm.

The hooks are made with an elastomer rubber handle so that can provide you with a comfortable grip and you can enjoy hours of relaxing crochet without hand pain.

The smaller sizes of Clover Armour Hooks have a steel hook shaft, the standard sizes have a metal aluminum shaft and the larger sizes have a shaft made out of ABS resin.  All of these materials have a super smooth shaft and make for a smooth crocheting experience.

Reason Why I Like Clover Crochet Hooks

Personally, Clover Crochet Hooks are some of (if not) my favorite crochet hooks that I have used to date!  They are lightweight, ergonomic, colorful, affordable and just overall a fantastic set of hooks.

The Amour handles fit in my hand perfectly and when I crochet, my hands never feel fatigued or hurt.  They are my go to hooks when I start any project!

I don’t think that I can stress enough that not all crochet hooks are created equal.  And, these Clover Amour hooks are beyond smooth when it comes to crocheting.  I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever used a crochet hook that glides so well through the yarn and stitches as these aluminum hooks.

Clover Amour hooks are also great for different crocheting styles.  So, whether you do a knife hold or a pencil grip when you crochet, these hooks are perfect for both styles as they are lightweight and have an ergonomic handle.

Where Can I Buy Clover Amour Crochet Hooks?

There are a few different ways to buy Clover Armour crochet hooks.  You can buy them individually and build you collection one by one or you can buy them as a set (at least you can for the smaller sizes up to size J).

The best bang for your buck is to buy the 10 hook set with sizes B / 2.25mm all the way to a J / 6.00mm hook.  Then you can add the larger sizes one by one as they don’t come in a set.

As far as pricing goes, unless you have a coupon or they are just on sale, places like Joann and Michael’s are usually a bit pricier than Amazon.  I personally bought my 10 hook set off of Amazon because it is the best price that I have seen.

Even if you order them off of the Clover website, they are still more expensive than Amazon.  Generally, the 10 hook set on Amazon is about $40 (plus free shipping) give or take a couple dollars because the price seems to go up and down randomly (haha), whereas the 10 hook set is $79.95 on the Clover website.

So, you can see the obvious choice here.

I recently just checked Joann and they are $87.99 for the set of 10 hooks.  Of course, if you have a coupon or something there, you could get them cheaper.

What is the difference between etimo and clover amour?  The difference is in the handle.  The Clover Amour is flat where you thumb will rest and on the Clover Etimo hooks the handle is more rounded.

Are Clover Amour hooks inline or tapered? Clover Amour hooks are tapered in style.  They are also a very ergonomic crochet hook as they have an easy grip handle and smooth shaft that the yarn can just glide over.

How long is a clover crochet hook?  The standard sizes of Clover Amour hooks (sizes B – J) are 5.5” in length.  The larger sizes (K & up) are longer.

Should amigurumi crochet hooks be tapered or inline?  Most crocheters that make amigurumi will agree that tapered hooks tend to work better for amigurumi.  The reason being that it seems like you have more control over the stitch tightness with a tapered hook than an inline hook.  Clover Amour crochet hooks are the perfect hooks to use when making amigurumi!

  1. I have a set of Clover Amour Hooks abd I LOVE them. I also have a set of We Crochet Dots crochet hooks. And let me tell you, they rank right up there with the Clover. I also have Furls, Susan Bates and well, you get the point. Hope you have a good evening. Lisa

    1. Haha, this sounds like me….I’ve lost count of all the hooks that I own! I have a set of the dot hooks too, I just haven’t made time to really try them out! I need to use them!

      1. Yes you need to try them out! They are just as amazing as the clovers. Girl, I have sooo many crochet hooks, I’m almost embarrassed to say how many I actually have. Lol

  2. I’m so curious what Hobby Lobby yarn you have shown with the rainbow of Clover hooks? I love the colors and can’t see enough of the skein to tell what it is. I also can’t find it on their website now that they’ve changed their format.
    Thanks for any help!

    1. Hi, it is Lion Brand Ice Cream Cotton Yarn that I got on clearance from Hobby Lobby a few years ago. I actually think that Lion Brand discontinued this specific yarn.

  3. I recently bought these from amazon, mainly because I was interested to know if the hype was real, and if they were any different to those I already had. I was shocked to discover that they move through the loops smoother, the yarn rarely splits if at all and I have to say that I am pleased I bought them.

    1. Yes, that is one of the biggest things that I found that I loved about them is how smoothly they just glide through the yarn. I don’t think I’ve ever used another hook that is this smooth!

  4. Very interesting, I didn’t know that different hooks could make such a difference to your crocheting experience. Thank you 😊

  5. I had the luck to get a set of Clover hooks really cheap from Amazon. They were my first ones. I love them! I have crocheted for 58 years, I now have lots of arthritis in my hands..it is essential to use the ergonomic hooks. Clover hooks are the best I’ve ever used. I’ve bought or been given many others. I have small hands, and need shorter handles and thinner gripping handles. I’ve found the perfect fit with the Clover hooks. I recommend them all the time.

  6. I have both Tulip Etimo and Clover Amour have to say I find the Tulip hooks far better especially when working YU on amigurumi projects.
