Introducing my (NEW & IMPROVED) Easy Peasy Raglan Sweater pattern. Some of y’all may remember a couple years ago when I released my very 1st sweater pattern. This is that pattern, but I have improved a few things (which I’ll explain) and I even added a few more sizes! It can be made in sizes XS – 5X.
Since that was my 1st ever garment to design, I’ve learned a lot over the past couple of years. And, that has helped me be able to apply a few different things to this sweater like –
- The placement of the Seam (where each round begins and ends). On my 1st easy peasy sweater the seam when down the middle of the back. It wasn’t very noticeable on a sweater made with a multi color or speckled yarn, but it was noticeable with a solid color yarn. SO, this sweater has the seam placed under the arm where it isn’t noticeable!
- I added more sizes! The original pattern had sizes XS – 2X. I extended the sizes this time all the way through 5X!
- I switched the type of yarn I used. I had originally used Lion Brand’s Vanna Choice for my 1st sweater and it turned out fine, but this time I used Hobby Lobby’s Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek and it’s definitely a softer yarn!
Those are the few things that I changed to make this easy peasy raglan sweater even better than before!
Beginner Friendly Sweater!
I also wanted to say that if you have maybe never crocheted a sweater before and you feel like it’s too big of a task…..Look no farther, this is a great pattern to start with. It’s definitely beginner friendly and I think that it would make a great project for someones 1st garment.
BUT, don’t think that it’s too easy that even if you been crocheting for awhile that you wouldn’t enjoy making it! It’s a very versatile piece to add to your wardrobe.
It is worked from the neck down and then you simply crochet the sleeves right onto the sweater. Easy Peasy!

Things you will need:
- Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek shown in Plum 4 ( 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 7, 7, 8) skeins OR approx. 700 ( 800, 900, 1,020, 1,160, 1,320, 1,480, 1,620, 1,820) yards of similar worsted weight yarn.
- Size H / 5.00mm Crochet Hook
- Scissors
- Yarn Needle
- Tape Measure
Notes:
- Since this pattern is worked down from the neck, it begins with foundation double crochet. The foundation double crochet is a MUST. You cannot chain a row and then double crochet down it and count it as row 1, it will not stretch enough to go over your head. Find my tutorial for the foundation double crochet here
- Sleeves are crocheted right onto the sweater.
- This pattern can easily be adjusted for length depending on your height. Simply add additional rows before starting your ribbing. Sleeves can be easily made longer also, just work more rows after last decreases before ribbing.
- This pattern is worked in the round and is not turned unless noted.
- Chain 2 at the beginning of the rows, does NOT count as a stitch
- Model is 5’, wearing a size M, with a 38’’ bust.
- Final stitch count is given at the end of each round in ( )
- I will include other notes throughout the pattern when needed.

You can try your sweater on to see if the length is about right. You can easily lengthen the sweater if needed by adding more additional rows before you add the ribbing.
I only crocheted 33 rows on the size M before adding the ribbing as I am only 5’ tall and wanted mine a little shorter.
Just remember the ribbing will add about 2’’ (2’’, 2’’, 2.25’’, 2.25’’ 2.5’’, 2.5’’, 2.75’’, 2.75’’) of extra length
Do NOT cut your yarn

So cute! You are so talented!
I would love to be a good at crocheting. Working on a throw keep pulling it out because I keep loosing stiches. Lol.
Have a great week.
Mona.
Aw, thank you! Just keep practicing! It’ll get easier! 😁
When you begin the ribbing Row 1, you offer 8 sizes instead of the 9 you were offering before. Not sure what to do for XL.
I accidentally left off the 5X counts. I’ll edit it and add them. You should still just work the XL as normal. 🙂
